Building a community-of-interest

For as long as lawyers have had to generate business, they’ve had to learn on the job, with little guidance, instead learning by trial-and-error and making all of their marketing and sales mistakes publicly, in full view of prospects and clients (many of whom are experienced buyers of legal services who spot shortcomings instantly).

Out in the real world the lessons are harsh and the losses due to missed opportunities are all too real.

By contrast, remember how you learned to play piano or golf.  It certainly wasn’t in front of an audience at a recital, or in a club tournament where your score was publicized.  You learned behind the scenes, under the guidance of a seasoned instructor – one who provided an environment where you could try your best, make your mistakes, get coaching and feedback, learn from that, and improve on it the next time.

By the time you were ready to play in front of an audience or join a foursome in a golf tournament, you had already made your mistakes privately and improved your skills to the point where you felt comfortable demonstrating them in the “real world.”

You simulated playing publicly until you gained the confidence to actually do it – live.

Think of RainmakerVT as a “sales-experience simulator” for attorneys.

Just as lawyers use virtual, or mock, trials to prepare for real trials, you can use RainmakerVT to practice your approach before each networking event or real sales opportunity.  RainmakerVT gives lawyers a safe and private environment in which to learn business development, experiment with different approaches, make mistakes, practice, and gain sales experience virtually – with no witnesses, and where the only clients lost are virtual ones.

Now, through virtual training technology, every lawyer can have access to the business development processes and coaching for which AmLaw200 firms willingly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars – all for a monthly fee less than coffee money.

Welcome to the community of people interested in making sure that RainmakerVT fulfills its potential, i.e., to establish the “gold standard” training experience, thereby motivating lawyers to stick with it and succeed.

We are currently recruiting attorneys from different walks of life, and with different levels of sales experience, to “test” our simulator.  If you would like to be one of the first lawyers in the world to access a simulated networking environment – one that you can master – prior your next actual networking event, please subscribe to RainmakerVT, and we will alert you as soon as the module is made available to our test group.  Your feedback and results will help shape the final product.

Here’s to a rewarding collaboration, and a vibrant discussion in the Comments.
